About Vindhya

Born in Rochester, New York to immigrant parents from Andhra Pradesh, India, Vindhya grew up in a household rich with Indian and American musical influences, cultural vibrancy, and intellectual pursuit. She started singing in school choirs, including in the Maryland All-State Choirs, gathering experience and picking up solo opportunities in Western classical operas, American jazz pieces, Gospel songs, and much more.  From school she developed a keen interest in American musical theatre. She performed lead roles at the university levels (e.g., Mimi from Rent) and started building an online presence.  Her work was noticed by Zee Music Company, one of India's largest record labels, and in 2019, she produced and co-wrote a single called Chal Mere Bhaiya with Zee Music. In 2021, she was commissioned to produce an independent original song, One and the Same, to celebrate the plurality and richness of India's spiritual traditions, and in 2024, she released her independent, original single, Galaxy Lovers, which garnered praise from fans across India and the United States. She is rapidly growing her music career with original music and covers that have garnered thousands of views across YouTube and Instagram. Vindhya can also sing in multiple languages  - most notably in English, Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, and Spanish.

She pursued a law degree at the University of Pennsylvania Law School because she wanted to expand herself intellectually and believes that the law carries incredible power to create lasting social change. She practices law currently in Washington, D.C., working in foreign affairs. Vindhya's music is an authentic amalgamation of her Indian and American musical influences and her artistic and intellectual inspirations, which all combine together to show that one need not fit into a conventional box.
